chill and get second

Saturday I paid 20 bucks to race, got second and won a pie. Sunday I paid 15 bucks to race, got second and won 60 bucks. The pie lasted longer. I would like to thank everyone with their support and concern as to wether or not I got the screen doors installed. I would like everyone to know that they are up and in full swing. Thanks for the love and support. This weekend there will be Cat 3 races. I would like to encourage half of the 4's in Iowa to upgrade and half of the 1/2's to downgrade for this weekend so we can have at least a dozen people in the race. go team go.......

Im an asshole and make bad things happen at State fair grounds crit

Some people are just sore losers. I had no intention of doing as well as I did at Sundays race and never felt in control the entire time. This was one of the most painful crits I have done in all my 18 years of racing. I have been contemplating an upgrade but anytime I race out of state where the fields are over 60 I usually get crushed. Apparently I hurt Sean Noonan's and Jake Boyce's feelings. Sean said it was a bad thing that happened when I won and Jake, who is incredibly strong, referred to me as an asshole in his blog site. Both of them felt I contributed very little to the break away in our race that ended up lapping the field. I am sorry they feel that way. I never kept score of who was in the front and who wasn't. I know the two guys in red were definitely stronger than myself and Lincoln plating guy. I have been racing since 1989. In that time I have upgraded, downgraded, been a USCF official, and upgraded again. I work full-time as a highschool teacher and have 2 boys to raise and feed. I pay an assload of bills and work at a thankless job were people are constantly shitting on you. I train as much as time allows. I am not getting any younger. I am way past my prime. Its a real joy to have a couple of young boys about half my age talk shit about me because I made it to the line before one of them. Incidently, I did not have a free weekend. My house needed 2 new storm doors. The race didn't even cover half a door.

I should feel sleepy

I wish I was tired right now. I'm thirtsy. I want to go outside. I'm making a bicycle trailer in shop class. I keep getting beat by Cat 3's so I am not going to upgrade, that would be dumb. I am not eating as many girl scout cookies this year. My driveway makes a circle. I'm teaching Landon to race. He will make a good 4 some day. I think it is stupid to have 2 USCF races on the same day in Iowa. Why can't we all just meet in the middle. Why do guys grow beards in the winter. I notice alot of people doing that. They are gross and ich real bad. We had a fun ride today. We road to a town with a morman temple and drank caffeinated beverages when we got there. Thank George Bush for the extra daylight, maybe Al Gore will save some money this month on utilities. Don't get any ideas, I could really care less who you like and don't like.

hello, how are you?

I was gonna update the other day but was to lazy to create a new google account. I guess I took the time tonight because I am not sleepy enough to go to bed. I think I will listen to some tunes for awhile. My oldest son suprised me the other day when he asked when his next bike race will be. He also told me today that steel toe boots can cut off your toes. My youngest son likes to get sick and cough for hours on end. The medical insurance makes his doctors very rich. I spent half of Saturday morning on the toilet and then went to the quad cities for the roller race. Today a bunch of us rode around for awhile. Dennis was riding in a banana and made friends with alot of farmers at a gas station. Hulk Hogan is having a pool party on TV. Looks like a goodtime. If anybody wants to come over sometime, I can make waffles.

screw it , I'll update

Did alot of racing this year. Did pretty ok when I stayed in state. Mostly got my ass served to me by out of staters. Moral of the story.....if you race against out-of-staters, don't upgrade. I still liked racing out of state though but as a Cat 3, I pretty much sucked. Cross was the same story, race against Iowans, do ok and have fun. Have out of staters show up and get my ass handed to me. Anywho, my youngest pissed in the bathwater tonight. That was awesome. We got alot of snow and it makes my body hurt. There is a mouse in the garage and my oldest won't go out there. I was glad to hear earlier tonight that not everyone has a price. Sorry about your bad luck witch doctor. If I was a chronic masturbator, I would have alot of pictures of hot chicks on my blog sight. I need a shower, an enema might feel good to.

stuff

I did another cyclocross race this past Sunday. I don't know why, since I'm not too fond of the race. Jake called me to tell me it was starting half an hour late, which I guess was good cause it would give me more time to chill and get ready. CX racing is quite addictive. It hurts so bad, but in a strangely rewarding kind of way. They say the off-season is a time for recovery, but so far it has been nothing but run-n-gun since Oct. 7. Fell off my bike a couple of times somewhere in there. It's as if we get to have a "do over" in mountain biking, and it's even affecting the 26 inch mountain bikes. Riding up the hill out of town I kept the watts above 600. I think the climb lasted around 2 minutes. I needed a pair of sungalsses. Rob needed to see the furry skin of another man. I'm not much of runner but feel this is a good excuse to get me out running before the bike training starts for next year. china is still threatening to invade militarily if taiwan announces independence. i live in constant fear of earthquakes because I know my 12 story building is not up to code. i've been trying to wean myself from the medication the doctors had been giving me. i was fairly certain that the pain would not be so great that a tough guy like me couldn't suffer through without help. Got one hell of a workout in. I really hope they do these races again next season. Had a great time hangin’ out with all of the roadies. The fields were very impressive with several super fast guys from around the midwest in attendance. Our guys held their own and we are off to a fantastic start to the 2006 cross season. I love racing as much as the next guy but my body is starting to wear down a bit. I am looking forward to the end of racing and the start of riding :) I did get a photo of a young doe just milling around underneath my stand, these animals truly are beautiful:).....oh and good to eat!

kronic

so I am sitting here in class and there is one thing I can't get off of my mind.... I have chronic, yet controlable diarhea. I think it must be some sort of anxiety effect as I feel somewhat ok. Kinda like pre-race jitters.
On a side note, my Trek Madone broke again. The Trek rep looked at it and said it was normal......asshole

old lady

I cut down a really big tree in my front yard. I wish Cam would have been here. I'm finally on the computer because I am too tired to walk. If I feel sick I will ride 80 miles later. Riding in crooked lines and funny circles at Sockum rockum ridge this weekend. Hope some fellers bring their mosquito delete'os. I got beat by Steve Tilford last weekend. Guess I'm not peaking yet. I ate lunch out of a box and had really puffy cookie too. My good knee hurts, no team Cliff bar around for that one. Is it going to rain this weekend? I can drink a gallon of milk in 5 days.

memorial day

Seems like around here anybody that races road and mountain think constantly, year round about memorial day weekend bike races. They are alot of fun if you can figure out how to finish everything and not loose hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment. I managed to have such luck and will be able to ride my bicycles still. I even got a little bit of money and talked to alot of cool people while I rode around in lots of circles. My favorite race was Snake Alley cuz alot of people popped. My least favorite race was Rock Island because it was too easy for everybody and everyone stayed together in most races which caused alot of people to get hurt because bikes run into to each other when they get really close together. Some really neato people came over to my house Saturday and watched my son play with fire.....awesome
